One of the two bronze lions that stand near the entrance of the Art Institute. They have no official name, but are designated by where they are located on the Michigan Avenue entrance.

The South Lion is said to be standing in defiance. The North Lion is on the prowl. They are a vital part of Chicago history and have guarded the entrance since they were dedicated in 1893 as part of the World Columbian Exposition.
